Pack Walk or Solo Walk? How to Choose for Your Dog

The most common question I get is whether a dog should join a pack walk or go out one-on-one. There is no better option, only a better fit.

A pack walk is a good fit when

  • Your dog genuinely enjoys other dogs, not just tolerates them
  • They recover quickly from excitement and settle on leash
  • They have solid recall and leash manners
  • Social time is the point — they come home tired and happy

Packs stay small and well-matched, and pickup and dropoff are included.

A solo walk is a good fit when

  • Your dog is older, sore, or needs a slower pace
  • They are anxious, nervous around other dogs, or still in training
  • They need medication, a harness routine, or specific handling
  • You want the walk built entirely around your dog's neighborhood and pace

Some dogs do both

Plenty of dogs do a pack walk midweek for the social outlet and a solo walk on a heavier day. That mix works well for younger dogs with a lot of energy and for older dogs having a good stretch.

Not sure? That is exactly what the meet-and-greet is for. We will walk your dog, see how they handle the block, and tell you honestly which one we would recommend.
